American Society of Mechanical Engineers : VIT Vellore
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is an international organization which intends to bring engineers from various disciplines onto a common platform to enlighten them about various innovations and developments in the field of science and technology. It promotes the art, science & practice of multidisciplinary engineering & allied sciences around the globe.
ASME-VIT was established in 2010, with the help of officials from ASME India. Over the last 9 years, it has emerged as one of the biggest and the most reputed student chapter of VIT University.
ASME-VIT conducts its annual symposium called ‘MECHNOVATE’ since its inception in 2013.With external participation of more than 1500 students, this symposium includes hands-on workshops, challenging events, and insightful conferences. It is aimed at reaching out to young, enthusiastic engineers and create scientific awareness.

Dr. Jeyapandiarajan P
Dr. Jeyapandiarajan P, a distinguished scholar and seasoned educator, has a remarkable academic journey characterized by his unwavering commitment to excellence. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, an M.Tech from IIT Roorkee, and a Ph.D. from VIT, Vellore University, he embodies a fusion of theoretical knowledge and practical acumen. Prior to his illustrious academic career, Dr. Jeyapandiarajan honed his skills as an Industry Executive Engineer at ISTM, Pune, and as a Welding Engineer at CET HAR.
However, it is his passion for research and innovation that truly sets him apart. Dr. Jeyapandiarajan’s scholarly pursuits traverse the intricate realms of mechanical engineering, materials science, and sustainable energy. His doctoral work at VIT delved into cutting-edge advancements in materials characterization and their applications in renewable energy systems, reflecting his vision for a greener, more sustainable future.
As the faculty coordinator for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) chapter at VIT, Dr. Jeyapandiarajan channels his passion into nurturing young minds and fostering a spirit of innovation. The three-day International Conference on Materials, Manufacturing, and Modeling (ICMMM) is a premier technical gathering that brings together leading academics, researchers, and industry professionals to exchange insights and discuss global advancements in materials, manufacturing, and modeling. This prestigious event is jointly organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering (SMEC), VIT, in association with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Chapter, VIT.

E-FEST
The ASME Engineering Festival, often known as E-Fests, is more than just a series of competitions — it’s a global phenomenon and a paragon of collaborative and competitive spirit. E-Fest Asia Pacific 2019 was the largest and most remarkable E-Fest ever conducted worldwide, with an impressive participation of over 3000 students from India and other countries, alongside several distinguished industry experts. ASME-VIT is proud to have hosted this event of such magnitude in collaboration with ASME India, contributing from the planning phase through to flawless execution. The event provided a powerful platform for young engineering students to test and showcase their skills, foster innovation, and jumpstart their professional journeys.
GRAVITAS
GraVITas is the prestigious annual technical fest of VIT, Vellore, attracting over 30,000 students from across the country. ASME-VIT plays an active and integral role in GraVITas each year, organizing a diverse array of events and workshops aimed at helping students apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, ultimately shaping them into skilled and innovative engineers.

The School of Mechanical Engineering (SMEC) and the Career Development Cell (CDC) collaboratively organize the prestigious Industry Academia Networking Conclave (IANC), with ASME-VIT managing its technical events. Sponsored by industry giants such as Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Apollo Tyres, Forbes Marshall, Rane NSK, Saint-Gobain, Trane Technologies, and Dassault Systems, the conclave serves as a vital platform bridging the gap between academia and industry.
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) proudly confirms the successful execution of a series of impactful events across three editions of IANC, drawing an impressive footfall of over 1,000 participants.
